Rainy Autumn Elopement in Lexington, Kentucky with Savannah + Graham
MEET SAVANNAH + GRAHAM
There were several variables to this intimate elopement, and it was an absolute joy to help do my part.
Graham had been away in Canada working in a mine above the arctic circle while Savannah was in Illinois finishing her degree in wildlife ecology. He went down to meet with her in Illinois and then they went on to Kentucky for a little getaway. She was expecting a trip away with her man. What she wasn’t expecting — him popping the question and proposing they elope while on their trip. How romantic!
I had been in communication with Graham and his mom to help plan behind the scenes. When October 29th finally arrived it was a rainy autumn day, but this happy couple wasn’t about to let the weather keep them from sealing the deal.
I met Graham and Savannah both for the first time at the magistrate’s home office in Lexington for their ceremony. Present were the bride and groom, the magistrate, a neighbor who walked over to be one witness, and I was honored to be the other. It was precious, raw, and everything an intimate elopement should be.
We then went on to play out in the rain, having them sweetly flirt and bask in their newlywed bliss. And let me tell you, it was EVERYTHING. The way Graham looks at his lady absolutely melts my heart, and Savannah just seems so at home and safe in the arms of her love. Several times throughout their session I found myself getting rather misty eyed… but of course I told the couple that it was just the rain falling into my eyes. ;)
