Fasig-Tipton Wedding in Lexington with Kelsey & Josh (as featured in Kentucky Bride)
MEET KELSEY & JOSH
This sweet couple was a joy to get to know and celebrate with. Kelsey & Josh share a love for the equine industry, the outdoors, and for their sweet pup Marley (yes, there are photos below!). Needless to say, their wedding day was as precious as they are.
From the moment I arrived at the venue, everyone was relaxed and excited for the event, rain or shine. The weather was giving possible showers so the couple decided to play it safe and bring the ceremony indoors (which was absolutely adorable). Thankfully the weather cooperated long enough to allow for outdoor portraits and didn’t rain until the reception. Hallelujah!
When I can, I like to ask my couples if they’d like to send me favorite memories from their day, any tips and advice for future couples, how they found THE dress, etc. Scroll down to check out more images from their wedding and what Kelsey shared about their special day.

TIPS & ADVICE
From the Bride, KH: We did not use a wedding planner or day-of planner which was a lot of planning but the entire process of planning was so much fun. We bought a large wedding planner book that had everything you could imagine listed to do, and we just went down the list making our perfect day. Make a list of what is most important to you and make a budget and divide the budget up depending on what you want the most on your special day.
THE FIRST LOOK
KH: The first look was special for us. We were both nervous because we don’t necessarily like to be the center of attention, but as soon as we saw each other everything else disappeared and we were each other’s calming presence.
I can’t get enough private first looks. I think it’s such a personal, quiet moment to share with your significant other. It’s especially wonderful for my more introverted friends. If you don’t like the idea and possible pressure of seeing your partner in front of all your guests during the ceremony, a first look is definitely something to consider on your wedding day.
THE DRESS
KH: Growing up most girls dream of how their wedding will look and imagine the dress they will be wearing. The process of finding the dress may seem stressful and difficult but in my case it was just as much of a dream finding my dress as the dress itself was a dream. Twirl was the very first place to look at wedding dresses and before my appointment they had a questionnaire that listed your budget and sample dresses to get a feel for the type and style you wanted out of your dress. When I arrived my family and friends and I had the whole place to ourselves and were so welcomed by everyone there. They had dresses picked out for me based on my style and budget and also some they thought I had to try on. During the process of trying the dresses on they were so helpful, making me feel so confident and beautiful. The second dress I tried on, I just could not get over and it was THE dress. I customized some of the dress and during the pandemic Twirl was still helpful and with me during the whole process. I am so grateful for my experience with these wonderful women.
My goodness, no wonder she couldn’t get over it. This dress looks absolutely STUNNING on her. So grateful the wind was our friend that day and helped us showcase her beautiful gown to its full potential.
DIY PROJECTS
KH: We did some DIY projects at a place called Board and Brush where you give them an idea and they create the piece but you get to paint it. So it can be a fun activity to do while creating pieces to showcase at your wedding.
Um, I was unaware this was a thing and I am very pleased to have obtained this knowledge. What a great idea!
HANDWRITTEN VOWS
KH: We wanted to share our own vows to each other to make it our own. We were nervous about sharing them in front of each other, but we locked eyes in the ceremony and everyone else faded away.
I think handwritten vows are beautiful and add a very personal touch to the ceremony. Josh’s voice got a little shaky as he read his vows but Kelsey quickly reached out to hold his hand in reassurance. Aaaaand we all completely melted. These two are the sweetest!
MARLEY
KH: Having Marley our very best pal be with us while we become an official family was everything.
Marley was the absolute sweetest. More weddings with fur babies, pleassseee!
KH: Josh’s Grandmother’s toast glasses were a special touch that connected her throughout the day.
When Kelsey + Josh shared this with me during their reception, I knew I had to help capture these precious heirlooms for them.
